The junior season is now underway and continuing his success from last year Hugh O’Hare has picked up the first piece of silverware on offer, the Howard Hillis Trophy.

The lower handicap juniors competed in a winter series of match play, and the final was contested between Hugh and Gabriel Gribben. Gabriel fought back valiantly over the last 3 holes, winning the 18^th to send the final into extra holes. Hugh was just too strong and picked up the win on the 3^rd extra hole.

Congratulations to Hugh on the first piece of silverware, and a wakeup call for our juniors that they are going to have to up their game if they intend to knock him off the 1# perch.

Further congratulations go to Hugh in being selected for the GUI Ulster Branch development panel. Hugh has been selected to play matches against the Darren Clarke Golf School, and the Ulster U15 panel.

Hugh has been successful in his first match in defeating his opponent from the Darren Clarke Golf School at the Hilton Templepatrick on the 30^th March. We wish him success in his next match and the possibility of being selected for Ulster Boys for the Inter Pro team later this year.

The Junior Season opened on the 30^th March with a club sweep, which has been won by Deaglan Pollock.

The Junior competition this week, 6^th April is the Dickson Trophy. Tee time is 11:15am to 12:30pm
