Further Update from Green's Convenor 13/05/2014

The recent wet and humid seasonal weather is responsible for the current disease on the greens. Jason informs me that the root system is healthy and a chemical spray will cure the problem. However he cannot spray while it is raining or the treatment will be washed away.

He is hoping to spray Tuesday or Wednesday of this week when the forecast is for dry weather.

The greens were verti-cut today (Monday) putting air into the turf which helps combat the disease. Once the greens are sprayed it should take a week to ten days for them to make a full recovery.

Rumours about the greens having to be lifted and reseeded are not to be believed. Members have the right to be concerned but rest assured the greens are in a healthy state with strong deep roots which will recover quickly once a treatment has been applied.
