AERIFICATION
The aerification process to the greens was disrupted due to the wet weather. The greens were too wet use hollow tines so we attempted using solid tines. Unfortunately, the turf was lifting and damaging the putting surfaces.
Going forward the plan will be to apply a light sanding every fortnight until the end of May. The application will be very light as to not to disturb the playability of the greens. This frequent spreading of sand will help smooth and firm up the playing surface.
The tees have been aerified, sanded, seeded and fertilized.
The fairways are in the process of being vertidrained. The wet weather had made the ground conditions too soft. The goal is to have all fairways vertidrained by the end of May.
FAIRWAY SANDING
The fairway sanding was due to commence last week. This needed to be postponed due to the soft ground conditions. The sand spreader when loaded would weigh 5-6 tonnes and would do significant damage travelling around the course. The fairway sanding will be rescheduled for the Autumn.
