Golf beneath Cavehill
Fortwilliam is North Belfast’s only 18-hole golf course—a friendly, established members’ club with spectacular views
across Belfast Lough and a history dating back to 1891.
18-hole golf in North Belfast: Conveniently located and easily accessible from across Belfast.
A welcoming members’ club: Competitive golf, social golf and opportunities to meet new playing partners.
A course moving forward: Continued investment in course presentation, drainage, playing surfaces and the member experience.
Golf that fits your life: A range of full, weekday, age-related and other membership options.
Like every parkland golf course, Fortwilliam adapts its operation to weather and ground conditions during winter. This can include a reduced winter routing, temporary surfaces or occasional closures to protect the course.
Over winter we also carry out winter improvement projects such as drainage, new tee boxes, course upgrades etc...but this is all to help us get ready for the next golfing season!
The early-joining offer gives you time to become familiar with the club and meet other members before the full golf season arrives in spring.
Who can take up this offer?
The offer is available to eligible new members who join Fortwilliam Golf Club before 31 December 2026. We offer several membership categories for different ages and playing needs. This offer is open to all returning members except those that left the club in bad standing, if you are unsure please contact us to confirm eligability.
What does “play the rest of 2026 included” mean?
Once your membership application has been processed and fees paid, you can begin enjoying the playing rights attached to your membership category for the remainder of 2026 at no additional subscription cost. As with all parkland courses, winter access remains subject to weather, ground conditions and the course routing in operation.
When do I pay?
Upon joining you will complete an application form and pay your membership fees in full. By joining before 31 December, you will pay the applicable 2026 subscription rate for your 2027 membership, which will then run until 31 December 2027.
Is there an entrance or joining fee?
No. Fortwilliam does not charge an entrance fee. Standard Golf Ireland affiliation, insurance and club levies applicable to your membership category will be clearly explained before you join.
What happens after I enquire?
Complete the short enquiry form and we will immediately send you the offer details and membership information. There is no obligation to join. If you would like to explore membership further, a member of the club team will be available to answer your questions, discuss the most suitable category and arrange a visit to Fortwilliam.
